Most of America watched the debacle of America’s exit from Afghanistan in August 2021 with a mixture of shock and bewilderment. The mobs at the airport, the coffins of 18 American soldiers on the tarmac, the seven billion dollars of US military hardware left behind - how could this have happened?
Americans shouldn’t have been surprised. Craig Whitlock had laid out in stark detail the utter failure of US Government policies in Afghanistan in a six-part series in the Washington post back in December of 2019.
Whitlock used US Government internal reports to document how the Afghan Government was a kleptocracy with minimal public support. The Afghan army was filled with ghost soldiers who only existed on payroll reports. The Taliban insurgents were steadily making gains all across Afghanistan. Whitlock was crystal clear in warning: THIS WILL END BADLY.
Unfortunately, the remaining 98% of US mainstream media continued to parrot the official US Government line: Afghanistan was being transformed into a thriving secular state with a powerful, modern army. If you weren’t part of the small minority who read Whitlock’s investigative series, you were blissfully unaware of what was coming.
The US Government’s war on journalists has been quite successful in turning North America’s mainstream media into a journalism-free zone. Now that Tucker Carlsen is gone there’s no-one left in the mainstream to challenge the official Ukraine war narrative. The problem is that media reports not based in reality have an Achille’s heel: Reality has a nasty habit of asserting itself without warning.
Here are a few current stories the mainstream media is reluctant to cover:
Patriot System(s) Destroyed: Remember how the Patriot missile batteries going to protect Ukraine? Well, one and possibly several of those launchers were destroyed in Kiev yesterday. (The Patriot systems can’t even protect themselves, let alone Ukraine!) There’s a video of at least 30 Patriot missiles being fired off to try forestall this outcome. At 5 million dollars per missile that’s 150 million dollars in US military hardware gone in two minutes. If the Russians managed to take out a whole Patriot battery, that would be a billion more dollars gone. Where the US media does cover this story they downplay it as ‘minor damage’. CNN, for instance, doesn’t bother to mention the loss of 150 million dollars worth of scarce Patriot missiles.
Tectonic Ammo Destruction: Another Russian attack took out an ammunition depot in Western Ukraine so large that the explosion measured 2.3 on the Richter Scale. Hundreds of millions of dollars more in US and European weaponry and ammunition went up in a giant mushroom cloud. Perhaps even British depleted uranium tank artillery got vaporized. Your tax dollars at work. Newsweek did manage to cover the story, with the usual weasel words of not being sure it actually happened. Much of the rest of the mainstream press simply ignored it. Here’s before and after pictures of the site:
The Fall of Bakhmut: The last corner of the key Ukrainian city of Bakhmut will fall to the Russians in the next day or two. What does the Western press talk about? Two Russian fighter jets and two military helicopters were shot down in one day. The Western press portrays this as a huge embarrassment for Russia, without providing the context that Ukraine’s Air Force has seen equal or higher losses every week for the past year.
America’s Liberal media is even more obviously obedient to the powers that be:
Biden Family Corruption: The House Oversight Committtee last week reported it has bank records detailing how 10 million dollars from various foreign entities was funneled through shell companies to NINE members of the Biden family. The New Republic reported on this story under the title “Republicans Finally Admit They Have No Incriminating Evidence on Joe Biden.” The New York Times reported the same story under the headline “House Republican Report Finds No Evidence of Wrongdoing by President Biden.” Biden’s whole family was on the take, but the Liberal media thinks Joe was exonerated because the money didn’t go to him directly. At least CBS was willing to report on the substance of the House report even though it dismissed it as a ‘GOP panel’
The Durham Investigation: John Durham has released his final report, indicating there was no basis for the entire Russiagate investigation and the FBI knew it. Independent journalist Susan Schmidt reports that: “Durham was highly critical of the FBI’s ‘startling and inexplicable failure’ to investigate the so-called ‘Clinton Intelligence Plan.’” Durham also reported that the FBI inexplicably shut down three investigations of the Clinton Foundation during the 2016 election. Expect the Democrat press to ignore/quickly forget Durham’s report. (In fairness to CNN’s Jake Tapper, he was at least willing to admit that the report was ‘devastating’ for those who had spent years pushing the Russiagate hoax, as he did.)
I could easily give a dozen more current examples of news not welcome in the mainstream media, but you get the point.
If you only get your news from North America’s mainstream media, you’re cruising blind into the future.
There are still excellent journalists in America. They’re just no longer in the mainstream media. If you don’t want to be unprepared for what’s ahead, you need to seek them out.
