A new, Italian peer-reviewed meta-analysis has found that Vitamin D supplementation reduced the odds of hospitalized COVID patients needing to go into intensive care by 72%, and reduced their risk of dying by 51%.
By pooling the results of five large studies, this meta-analysis was able to reach a level of reliability the researchers described as ‘conclusive’.
The implications of this research are truly staggering. If the United States had done research like this in April of 2020, and prescribed vitamin D supplements to every American COVID patient starting in May of 2020, half a million Americans who died of COVID would not have died.
Remember all those lengthy, draconian lock-downs that were ‘essential’ to prevent hospital emergency wards from ‘being overwhelmed’? Would they have happened if emergency wards had had 72% fewer patients?
As early as March of 2020, researchers noticed that an inordinate number of hospitalized COVID patients had very low levels of vitamin D in their blood.
This on its own did not mean that Vitamin D supplementation was in order. There was some possibility that COVID was destroying Vitamin D in the blood, and this was the cause of the correlation. There was also no guarantee that Vitamin D supplementation when a person was already hospitalized with COVID could impact immune system functioning quickly enough to prevent more severe illness or death.
That said, the strong association between bad COVID outcomes and low levels of serum Vitamin D should have led the CDC to conduct large randomized clinical trials of vitamin D supplementation starting in April of 2020.
Perhaps the CDC was deterred from testing Vitamin D because of the serious potential side-effects associated with Vitamin D supplementation, including:
Lower rates of influenza, bronchitis and pneumonia
Lower rates of osteoporosis
Lower rates of SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), depression and anxiety
Lower rates of schizophrenia
Lower rates of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease
Lower rates of diabetes
Lower rates of prostate cancer and breast cancer
Lower rates of heart disease
And lower rates of multiple sclerosis.
In a for-profit medical system, creating such a veritable epidemic of good health outcomes would have endangered corporate profits!
Sarcasm aside, why in God’s name would the CDC not immediately test Vitamin D as a possible COVID treatment when the likely side-effects of such supplementation are overwhelmingly positive? To my mind this failure goes well beyond simple incompetence: It is nothing short of criminal negligence.
Even the figure of 500,000 unnecessary deaths probably understates the scale of the carnage caused by the failure to research vitamin D supplementation in an expeditious fashion.
A second meta-analysis has found that vitamin D supplementation prior to COVID infection also has important benefits. Those benefits included lower risks of COVID infection, hospitalization, intensive-care admission and mortality.
The much smaller sample sizes used in this meta-study means the results were promising but not definitive. It does seem extremely likely that if Canada and the US had encouraged the general population to take Vitamin D supplements we would have had significantly positive results at every stage of the process: much lower rates of infection, lower rates of hospitalization, fewer intensive-care admissions, and fewer deaths.
The silence of the mainstream media regarding this important new research is deafening. Perhaps they feel guilty about not doing any reporting on this issue in the past. Dr. John Campbell was reporting on this issue two years ago. Why did the mainstream media ignore him?
People are still dying of COVID every day in North America. Does the mainstream media not feel any responsibility to report a story which could save lives even now?
If the mainstream media is unwilling to admit this is an important health story, perhaps CNN could report on it as an example of systemic racism. (Certainly it’s a much better example of systemic racism than five black cops beating a black man to death.)
The body makes most of its own Vitamin D in the skin, with the help of sunlight. Those of us living in Northern climes don’t get enough sunlight in the winter months, with the result that 42% of the American population is vitamin D deficient in the winter.
Blacks and Hispanics have more skin pigmentation, which reduces their ability to manufacture Vitamin D, with the result that 82% of Blacks and 70% of Hispanics are Vitamin D deficient.
Blacks and Hispanics both have significantly higher death rates from COVID than Whites. One can strongly suspect that a major cause of the elevated death-rates seen in the Black and Hispanic populations is vitamin-D deficiency.
A less-racist medical system would have long ago recognized that Blacks and Hispanics have different Vitamin D needs than Whites, and actively promoted vitamin D supplementation in these populations. Blacks and Hispanics have paid a very high price for the indifference of a white-based medical system to their needs.
There you go CNN - the ball’s in your court!
PS: If you want to know how much vitamin D supplementation to take, Dr. John Campbell has made these recommendations.
Excellent summary of the deliberate health sabotage by the CDC and MSM! I've been regularly supplementing with vitamin D since before the "pandemic", and I rarely get sick. At some point I apparently caught covid (according to the antibodies in my blood), yet I never felt anything more than mild flu-like symptoms. I strongly agree that many lives could have been saved if people had been told to take vitamin D supplements as well as to get more sunlight.
A whole year ago I uploaded a video ranting about doctors not actually practicing medicine, the ridiculous lockdowns, and forced masking, and encouraged people to get outside, take off the stupid mask, and enjoy some healthy fresh air and sunshine. YouTube immediately took the video down and gave me a strike for "medical misinformation"! Obviously the CDC was colluding with the media and big tech to browbeat everyone into cowering in their homes and getting jabbed multiple times, rather than spreading information about actual healthy options. Heads need to roll!
An urgent care doctor actually told my elderly father-in-law in late 2020 not to bother with Vitamin D3, that no studies showed it to be effective! I was aghast! Of course he listened to that charlatan instead of me, and refused to take it after that. I was mad at both of them!
