I'd like to present the latest BC Government data on COVID deaths, with three caveats.
First, the data is already two weeks out of date. Less than ideal in the fast-moving Omicron wave, but it's what we've got. Maybe next year the BC Centre for Disease Control will buy some computers.
The second caveat is that I've had to interpolate the data below from two BCCDC Situation Reports four weeks apart. For some strange reason the BC Government doesn't seem interested in breaking out separate data on Omicron, even though the Omicron data may be different from previous waves.
The third caveat is that a few Delta deaths may be included in the data below. I suspect the BCCDC knows which of the recent deaths are Delta stragglers, but again, they haven't bothered to tell us.
With those caveats, here are the most recent BC death stats, which we can suspect are almost all Omicron:
This is deja vu all over again!
As with previous waves, deaths from Omicron are highly stratified by age.
No-one is dying under the age of 30.
Two-thirds of those dying are age 80 and older. Mathematically, the median age of those dying has to be well over age of 80. It seems highly probable that the vast majority of those dying over the age of 80 are either double- or triple-jabbed. They don't tell us here. It would be too embarrassing, I suppose. They do give us a good ballpark idea of the number of triple-jabbed seniors dying on one of their other sites:
See that huge dark purple bar on the far right, the one that dwarfs all the others? That’s deaths over age 70 among the triple-jabbed. (The grey on the graph is unvaxxed, the pink single-vaxxed, the light purple is double-vaxxed.) Though being double- or triple-vaccinated offers significant protection against dying of Omicron if you are a senior, it is clearly a less-than perfect protection!)
There’s also this from the same document, that tells us almost half of Omicron deaths are among the triple-vaccinated:
If we look at ICU use, we again see that the risk is much smaller the younger you are: Only 25 of the 352 ICU admissions in the past four weeks were under age 30: Only 7% of those going into the ICU are under the age of 30.
There's also information on deaths in care home in the same time period: 85 of the 215 deaths over the past four weeks have been residents of care homes: that's 40% of all deaths.
There are roughly 27,000 seniors living in care homes in BC. This data says that care home residents are 80 times more likely to die of Omicron than the general population.
With a group at such high risk, prophylactic use of ivermectin would be highly advised. As I reported in a previous post, a huge new study from Brazil found that prophylactic use of ivermectin reduced the death rate from COVID by two-thirds.
The problem for Bonnie Henry is that she cannot provide that life-saving protection to BC's care home residents now without people figuring out that roughly two-thirds of the 2,645 British Columbians who died of COVID in the past two years died unnecessarily. No, better to let a few more seniors die; they're old anyways.
Of course, the BC Government has to pretend they're doing something so let's have a big push to vaccinate children. Never mind that children ages 5 to 11 have about one-thousandth the risk of dying as the general population. Never mind that the majority of children in BC probably already have the superior natural immunity of the Omicron-recovered. Never mind the fact that we have even less long-term data of the safety of vaccines for children than we do for adults. If it moves, jab it!
The one part of the BC Situation Reports that tells us nothing of value is the case numbers: They're pure fiction.
There is one way we could get a good reading on what proportion of the population now has natural immunity. The Ministry of Health knows from BC Med numbers who is still unvaccinated. Invite a few thousand of those people to get antibody tests. Offer them the inducement of an immediate vaccine passport if they have a positive test result. (You'll need to test the unvaccinated because you won't know whether a positive test result in the vaccinated is from Omicron or from the vaccine.)
While you're at it, Bonnie, you could also give antibody tests to all the unvaccinated doctors and nurses you fired. The undisputable scientific truth is that the COVID-recovered are at less risk of catching and spreading Omicron than any fully-vaccinated doctor and nurse who has not yet caught Omicron.
BC's front-line doctors and nurses are stressed and exhausted. Do it for them. Do it for the patients who will get better care.
I'm sure it will be hard for you to forgive the doctors and nurses you couldn't bully into getting vaccinated, but, please, put aside that vendetta for now. However briefly, you need to rein in your Vaccine Derangement Disorder. I know that with that unfortunate disorder, every fibre of your being cries out that vaccines are our one and only salvation. I understand that. But be strong. Just this once, let your decisions be guided by science, and by concern for the wellbeing of British Columbians.
PS: For anyone who wants to check my arithmetic, here’s the raw data. Please feel free to pass this data on to any mainstream ‘journalists’ you know.
This explains in part why so many older people after being boosted are afraid to leave their homes. They were the most compliant as they are most at risk, yet it can’t save them. What a useless product. I’m so disgusted that they continue to mandate this product denying us of informed consent by hiding deaths and injuries with very little benefits.
