Here's a clip from CBC News about the Truckers’ Convoy. I have to admit it's a masterpiece of propaganda. Joseph Goebbels would be proud.
In one five minute segment, they manage to fit in the idea of traffic disruptions, violent online rhetoric, extremists, concerned police, racism and homophobia.
The Truckers' Convoy is a grassroots event with hundreds of organizers. The CBC managed to find only one of those organizers - someone from the 'far-right' - whatever that means.
They show a clip from a representative of an 'anti-hate group.' That person expresses the fear that the truckers convoy will be the Canadian equivalent of January 6th. (They're all Trumpers!)
There's a truly staggering amount of evidence-free innuendo here, packed into a mere five minutes. I'm impressed.
They show a clip of Justin Trudeau describing the protesters as a 'small fringe minority', 'holding unacceptable views'. (Have we reached the point where anyone who opposes Mr. Trudeau's Government now holds 'unacceptable views'?)
They managed to include two five-second clips from protesters during the entire five minutes. (You have to at least pretend some level of neutrality in good propaganda.)
There are dozens of locations in Canada where the truckers had hundreds of supporters by the side of the road. The CBC must have struggled to find a couple of locations where protesters were sparse. (They managed to do that in Nova Scotia by filming at the crack of dawn.)
South of the border the CBC's slanted and underwhelming coverage of the truckers' protests has been noticed. Kim Iversen does a great job of eviscerating Canadian media.
I suspect that sometime in the next 24 hours, a Canadian clergyperson may feel moved to speak up in support of the Truckers’ Convoy as it approaches Ottawa.
To any church leader who decides to do that: I commend your courage. Please be forewarned though, I suspect this is how CBC's the National will most likely cover your statement.
Choose your words very carefully. If you talk for twenty minutes rest assured the CBC will decide to show only the three sentences where you stumble. Don't get angry, not even for ten seconds because you can be sure that's the ten seconds the CBC will use. Expect that Andrew Chang will then comment on how angry and irrational all the protesters are.
If you have any skeletons in your closet, no matter how old or small, expect them to come out. Adrienne Arsenault will show the old yellowed clipping of the time you got caught at the high school prom with a bottle of whisky, and make allusions to your questionable past.
Expect there will then be a clip of a unkempt, wild-eyed protester screaming that "God will smite Justin Trudeau." Rosemary Barton will then claim that church support for the convoy could lead to violence and rioting.
The segment will end with an old clip of the Reverend Jim Jones telling his followers that the end of the world is coming soon. Ian Hanomansing will solemnly declare that Christian ministers are a known radical group that have, on occasion, ORDERED CHILDREN TO DRINK CYANIDE-LACED KOOLAID!
You can be reasonably sure that the following five facts will NOT be part of that CBC story:
1) We know from contact tracing that Omicron entered Canada via fully-vaccinated travellers.
2) Hundreds of thousands of fully vaccinated Canadians will catch Omicron this week.
3) Grocery store clerks are in contact with dozens, sometimes hundreds of people every day but there is no requirement for them to get vaccinated.
4) Truck Driving is one of the most solitary professions in the world - the number of people a truck driver is in contact with in a normal day can usually be measured on the fingers of one hand.
5) Preventing unvaccinated American truck drivers from entering Canada will have no measurable effect on the spread of Omicron. On the other hand, it's likely to have a very significant impact on the availability of basic goods at your local grocery.
What the CBC won't cover is almost as telling as what it will. Recently a very large peer-reviewed study was released documenting how prophylactic doses of ivermectin two days a week reduced the death rate from COVID in a Brazilian city by two-thirds. I think that's important news when Omicron is racing through Canada's care homes. If a cheap, simple medication regime could reduce by two-thirds the carnage Omicron is causing among Canada's seniors, I think most Canadians would want to know that.
The CBC doesn't think so. They've learned all too well, never to bite the hand that feeds them.
PS: Justin Trudeau has really poked the bear! Elon Musk has told his 71 million Twitter followers to vote Trudeau out of office. Even Joe Rogan has weighed in! Anyone who wants to understand the decline and fall of the CBC should go to the website of former CBC journalist Tara Henley. Go Truckers Go!
PPS: Tucker Carlsen interviewed a Canadian pastor who is also a trucker! This is what a fair interview of a clergyperson would look like CBC! If you don’t think the news is slanted consider this headline: “Anti-vax Olympic gold medalist Szilveszter Csollany dies of Covid, aged 51.” Only in the body of the text is it admitted the coach was fully vaccinated. His crime? Somewhere on social media he must have expressed anti-vax comments.
Well said Bruce, the narrative is crumbling and they are desperate. The PM need to explain to Canadians how the vaccine will stop the pandemic, when after contact with sick person and being boosted he must isolate at home to stop the spread. This demonstration evaporates justification mandates.
