How do you satirize a news organization that has become so utterly ridiculous? The latest is the CBC claiming that Russia may have encouraged, perhaps even instigated the massive trucker convoy that arrived in Ottawa today.
I went to the protest in Victoria, and I don't think I've ever seen a larger crowd at the Legislature, not even on Canada Day. In some ways, it even felt like Canada Day: there were lots of Canadian Flags, lots of kids, lots of smiling faces, lots of laughter. The crowd was so big I never did find my friends David and Joy. I did meet a lot of really nice people in my search though.
The trucks kept arriving all afternoon. The crowd kept turning over - as some people left, others arrived.
I ran into an old friend from Courtenay, who told me there were 500 people at the Driftwood Mall in Courtenay at 7am this morning waiting to drive to Victoria. Their departure was delayed an hour waiting for the large Campbell River contingent to pass. At every town all the way South, dozens or hundreds of people with flags and placards lined the side of the highway.
I think before today, a whole lot of Canadians felt isolated and alone in their opposition to heavy-handed government policies. Now we have found our community. We know our numbers are large, and growing. The end of the pandemic is in sight. And the CBC is becoming an international laughingstock!
PS: Here’s me and my neighbour Kat at the huge rally at the BC Legislature.
