For decades, communities across Canada and the US have been adding fluorides to the water supply as a public health measure to improve the dental health of children.
A recently released report from the US National Toxicology Program, indicates that that policy has almost certainly had significant, long-term adverse effects on the IQ of Americans.
The draft US Government report was released only as a result of court action by the Fluoride Action Network. The US Government clearly doesn’t want you to know that their health policies have been dumbing-down America for a very long time.
Starting in 2015, the NPT examined 500 studies on the relationship between fluoride exposure and neurotoxicity. From the Epoch Times:
“The meta-analysis in the most recent version of the NTP draft review concluded that ‘52 of 55 studies reported an inverse association between fluoride exposure and children’s IQ.’
In other words, the more fluoride children are exposed to, the lower their IQ. The estimated drop, based on a range of studies, is approximately seven IQ points.”
If you think this is a problem only for children, think again. If you’re under the age of 60, there’s probably a 50-50 chance your childhood was spent in a community with fluoridated water. If so, all those times you’ve wailed “How could I have been so STUPID!” are just the tip of the iceberg.
Lowered intelligence would have also impacted your productivity at work. A careful study of that issue has estimated that each point of lowered IQ results, on average, in lowering a person’s lifetime earnings by between $10,000 and $13,000. If drinking fluoridated water shaved seven points off your IQ, it will likely also end up knocking somewhere between $74,000 and $91,000 off your lifetime earnings. I’d say that’s a pretty high price to pay for a few less cavities, wouldn’t you?
Why is this neurotoxin still in the water supply of 200 million Americans?
The fluorosilicic acid typically used to fluoridate water is a waste by-product of phosphate fertilizer manufacturing. Water fluoridation instantly transformed this toxic waste into a huge cash cow for the fertilizer industry. One has to suspect that the foot-dragging by US agencies around recognizing the neurotoxicity of fluorides is because powerful economic interests have benefitted greatly from water fluoridation. As we’ve seen before, if money corrupts public health, big money corrupts it absolutely.
When a public health initiative like fluoridation is imposed on large populations, it makes far more enemies than a public health recommendation does, leaves public health agencies more exposed to legal repercussions, and greatly magnifies the consequences of any poor public health policies. All of which makes it immensely harder for health bureaucrats to admit they made a mistake than if they had simply issued a non-binding recommendation.
It’s possible that we’ve only begun to uncover the problems associated with fluoridated water. It’s not just children being dosed-up on fluorides. Adults, old people, pets, the vegetables in your backyard garden, and the stream that flows behind that garden all end up ingesting fluorides. We’re subjecting all age groups and a significant chunk of the natural environment to a chemical with known toxicity issues. What could possibly go wrong?
Only recently was it discovered that ingesting fluoride during pregnancy has a neurotoxic effect on a woman’s male offspring: “for each additional 1 milligram per liter in concentration of fluoride in a mother’s urine, there was a 4.5-point drop in IQ”. What other collateral damage is yet to be discovered? (Maybe there’s a reason your dog is so stupid.)
Even if we consider just the needs of children, fluoridating the water supply is overkill.
I’m fortunate enough to live in Victoria, BC, where the water is not fluoridated. Despite the lack of fluoridation, my 12-year-old son Juan Diego has had a grand total of one cavity in his entire life. Juan Diego is extremely bright. At age 12, he makes a significant part of his spending money by coaching his schoolmates on the intricacies of various chess openings. Would it serve my son to give up part of that scintillating intelligence in return for (perhaps) one less cavity? I don’t think so.
There has never been a need to add fluoride to the water supply. Fluoride treatments administered by dentists arguably get more fluoride to a child’s teeth, and far less to their developing brains. And children born with strong teeth don’t need even that.
Power-mad public health officials love one-size-fits-all public health policies like water fluoridation. We need to rein in those who are so arrogantly sure they know what’s best for you that they will take away your right to choose what you put in your body.
PS: This post also appears as a guest post on Stephanie Brail’s Wholistic Substack. My apologies to those who have subscriptions to both Substacks. Though there will be some overlap between my site and hers going forward, I suspect half or more of my posts will appear on either her site of mine.
I did a guest post for Stephanie earlier in the week that covered only part of the material in my post Crickets. The post I did for Stephanie makes a cleaner and shorter case that COVID vaccination has a lousy risk/benefit for children, and for adults under the age of 50. If you want to get either a parent or a young adult to look at the evidence in this regard, I would suggest you forward them the guest post I wrote for Stephanie.
This week we got yet another piece of evidence that COVID vaccines for children do more harm than good. Zerohedge reported on a Zachary Stieber report in the Epoch Times: “One hundred and four children under 6 years old suffered a seizure within 42 days of a COVID-19 shot, researchers with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other institutions found. Others suffered strokes, blood clotting disorders, and appendicitis, the researchers said.”
Finally, the Epoch Times has also produced a fairly comprehensive coverage of the issue of Fluoride exposure and how to minimize it. Hydroxyapatite has also been suggested as a non-toxic alternative to fluoridated toothpaste for children.
Yep, parents that buy their kids "fluoridated drinking water" are in the same camp as those that are dragging their kids in for experimental boosters. This has been known since the 1930s
