Nazi Germany wasn't totalitarian, even if it did many of the things you say. Try H. R. Trevor-Roper's The Last Days of Hitler.

I recognize that North Americans have only a victor's view of Nazi Germany, that the truth about Hitler and the Nazis is far less black and white. (Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi both suffered the same fate.) Perhaps 'totalitarian' is too strong a word. I do think it's fair to say the Nazis made life uncomfortable for those who opposed them.
