When my father and step-mother go to my step-sisters house to pick up groceries, they don't go inside. I don't know if that's my step-sisters or parents idea; at this point I don't even ask.

I suspect there are more people out there with PPSD than would be immediately obvious. The staff at the YMCA tell me that a significant proportion of their former clientele still hasn't returned since the end of the pandemic. And I understand Skip the Dishes still does a lot of business with people afraid to go to restaurants. What I think must be understood is that it is not some sort of stubbornness that causes people to do this. PPSD operates at a somatic level - the body decides what is allowed, not the brain.
