Writing from USA I have to say there is a shortage of breaths at my house. There's more gulping and gasping for air which may (or may not) go away after our free and fair elections in November and January 7, 2025.

Well, yes, I'm sure I could easily have worked up a whole separate trifecta of risk around the US elections in November were it not for all the more immediate crises clamouring for my attention. Sufficient to the day is the evil thereof.

Despite the hysteria of both Democratic and Republican pundits, I'm not sure it matters all that much which geriatric sociopath becomes the next US President. Either one will be tightly constrained in what they can do.

I suspect I would be far less sanguine if I lived South of the border - maybe I'd be hyperventilating already. The worst outcome would not be Trump or Biden but an unclear result that is contested for weeks - now that could get really, really ugly!

If Turkey joins BRICS, will it then leave NATO? If it does, how big a blow to NATO will it be, losing it's 2nd largest military ?

As for your advice, "BREATHE", I need reminding of that myself. As you said, all or some of this may come,. but it doesn't have much effect locally.

Turkey is trying to keep one foot in each camp. They just bought a whole whack of US-made warplanes. How long they will be able to balance between East and West remains to be seen. And, yes, it would be a huge loss to NATO in America's kowtowing to Israel in Gaza drive's Turkey headlong into the arms of Russia and China.
